Recap: 10/20/2007 Canucks vs Oilers
The Canucks headed into indian country to play the Oilers last weekend. With no blockades enroute, most of the team arrived unharmed and ready to face our old rivals. The Canucks were down five or six players due to Arie’s wedding, but the subs came out in full force and performed admirably.
We got off to a great start with two great goals from the point on a single shift by Jack (yeah that’s right…) to give ourselves a nice two goal cushion for the first two periods. After two periods our lack of depth started to show and we got a bit tired and the Oilers capitalized by scoring three goals to put us down by one with half a period remaining. Fortunately Brian found a loose puck in front of the Oilers net and sent it home to tie up the match. The teams fought hard to break up the tie, but time wound down a little too quick. Another minute or two and we would’ve had’em. Afterwards, good times were had by all at the local watering hole in Caledonia, where we were serenaded by the locals and served up some lecker beverages.
Next week’s game sees us back at home for our official home opener against Lincoln. With most of the wedding crashers back in the line-up, it could have been good, but alas yet another wedding next week so we’re short players again. We’re anxiously waiting the day when the team comes out in full force and demolishes the competition.
