Mighty ‘nucks soar over Oilers

In a dazzling display of both offensive and defensive skill, the Burlington Canucks soundly defeated their b-central division rivals, the Hamilton Oilers in an exhibition game on September 20th. The Canucks stepped out onto the ice in their sparkling new apparel, beaming with Canuck pride. After many long years of suffering on mediocre teams, the members of the new powerhouse of the CRHL skated with new-found confidence and great chemistry. Missing three key players due to injury (aka babysitting…) the Canucks were still able to get off to a fantastic start. The Canucks’ goal-scorers got to work early scoring a number of quick goals. Veteran goaltender Chris Vanderhorst showed that a new set of matching pads wouldn’t slow him down a bit, flashing his glove hand countless times and saving his team from a few too many odd-man rushes. The defensive core of the Canucks also proved their worth, stifling the speedy Oiler offence, and firing a number of superb point shots. The final score was unknown due to a deterioration of organized game play as the ice-time came to a close, however it is certain that the Canucks proved they will be the team to beat in the 06-07 season and for years to come.

  • Sorry this is so late guys. I've been away for a while. I'll try get to the game reports as early as possible from now on.

It would be good to discuss how the lines went and how we can improve for the season opener.

I'm not sure if you guys want another practice or game before the season starts in two weeks. Let me know. I don't mind setting it up, if you guys don't mind having your dues go up by another 15-20 dollars.

  • all i saw that night was a bunch of pylons on ice. might want to practice on skating a little bit better. definately have the potential to take it all this year but you guys saw how fast the sharks are and i think you'll need to practice on that. all the best this season. We suck as you all know. can't even beat the low life avalanche so that tells you something. we are working on our mistakes but we shall see you on the ice October 27th.

  • Mike, I think you're just bitter because your fingers were getting sore tallying up all our goals on the scoreboard. See you on the 27th. Or earlier, as you'll probably be at our other games too.

  • FYI: Originally the first game on the new schedule was Oct 13 9:30. This has been changed to 10:00 on the 14th instead of the 13th. Same arena. Pad A instead of B. Apparently A will be ready in two weeks and B will open a couple weeks later.

  • We don't play for 2 and a half weeks! I vote for another practice game. How about we play one of the b-south teams that we can't play any more?
