Recap: 10/14/2006 Predators vs Canucks
October 14th, Wave Twin Center – James and Wade both racked up 5 points as the Burlington Canucks got their 06-07 season off to a fast start with a 9-0 win over the Burlington Predators. Two goals each by James and Wade, along with singles by Matt, Arie, Jack, Dan, and Mark, while Chris stepped up and made 6 saves for the shutout win. The game proved to be a good warmup for next weekend when the competition heats up as the Canucks meet a fast and improved Sharks team. Game time will be 7:00 at the (old) Wave Sports Center.
The Poort boys looked like they all got a nice home-cooked meal from Mama Poort before the game, as they were the only ones to score until the second period when Arie finally broke the family’s scoring streak.
The Predators only had one real chance to score, as a goalie miss-queue while trying the come out and play the puck almost broke Chris’s shutout, but thanks to Dave’s run-in with the goalpost, any damage was prevented.
Overall this was a good opening night, boosting our confidence, and helped us get used to new line mates.
It’s tough to tell our skill level playing against a young team like this, so next week’s game should give us a good idea of what we’re capable of. Everyone needs to come to the game in peak physical condition, so everyone hit the gym and do some good solid off-ice training this week… or just drink one beer less on Friday night. Go Nucks!

it was great to get the first game under our belts. You know Ron. All the boys came out to play tonight, ah it was great to see that we all still could skate and ah that we could still put the puck in the net and ah you now we just gotta keep on shooting and hope that the bounces keep going our way and i think we'll do fine.

Great Game on saturday Night guys. I must say you look like a damn good team out there. All lines firing, I think the Sharks will be Surprised to see how much talent is on your team. I'll be there to see you guys hand those highscoolers a hard fought battle. From behind the mask, Kelly Hrudy

Good balanced scoring. 7 different goal scorers. Pretty impressive.
Only two guys without points. Guess who's doing laps at the next practice...
Joel you got some catching up to do.

Joel better play reach forth this year. There is no chance he can keep up to the powerhouse poort boys. My guess is with the new lumber he'll break it in one shot durring warm ups.

Jack... you should put a thing on the side of the home page of the league standings as well.

Why don't I just re-wite the whole CRHL website while I'm at it... ;)
I'll try get it there sometime soon. It's not like I have anything else to do. ;)

I think you caught Jack at a bad time. Sounds like he's having a bad day. The crhl website schedule is in full swing. Check it out.

Don't you mean "they're"? Those Sharks kids are still in high school right? Maybe they can teach you some english lessons...

This weekend's game is going to be a little tougher than the last game. We're going to need to organize the lines and have a bit of strategy. Mark can take John's spot on defense. Is anyone else missing? Are any subs coming? Are we playing with only Jack and Wade on center again? What should the winger pairs be? If the game is close or if we're losing, we should probably shorten the bench a little. Let's discuss

Standings are up on the main page now too. I'll try keep them up to date.
For next game: I think John is the only one missing. I can call up a sub if you guys want, but I think having an empty spot in the forward rotation will help us to juggle the lines or shorten the bench if necessary.

I think we can use Dave Jagt....

We got a bunch of pictures from our last game. I've added them to the front page of the site. Thanks Jenn.

Nice pictures guys. Good Luck against the sharks.

It would be cool if we could get a couple action photos taken at each game to include them in the recap articles. If any of you are inviting fans to come along and watch the game, ask them to take a couple pictures and email them to me after the game. If no one shows up with a camera, we can probably take some pictures from the bench with someone's cellphone, but a fan with a camera would probably get better shots. Any volenteers for this weekend's game?

I'll get Lor to bring her camera... she just got it... so now she can give it some use...

wade, we don't need her taking pictures of all the guys her age on the sharks

this must have been a comment from one of the lonely single guys on the team... uh Chris or Mark?... Maybe Jack?
By Anonymous, at 10/20/2006 5:50 PM
Wasn't me. It was probably Wade having second thoughts about his offer.
By the way - If anyone feels like bringing money to the game tomorrow - it would be appreciated. Since we still don't have any more sponsors, it is still $485.

I'll be at the game to watch you guys hand those little highschool kids a loss so if anyone has a camera and wants some action shots, let me know. see you there guys. Mike
