Recap: 1/26/2006 Canucks vs Vipers

“I can’t believe we’re losing to the Vipers!” - This phase was reverberating throughout the Canucks bench for the first half of the game on Friday night. Fortunately a couple of the Canucks took it upon themselves to turn the world right-side-up again and dumped a bunch of goals in the net to get the Canucks the 7-3 victory.

The Canucks knew the game was going to go south quick as soon as they walked into the dressing room and saw our scorekeeper lacing them up. The group thought seemed to be “Ah well, we’re only playing the Vipers…” That attitude was evident early as Chris’s decision to play with his eyes closed resulted in the Vipers putting a couple weak goals past him. After much laughter at the Vipers high hopes, the Canucks jumped back on the ice and scored goal after goal to dash those high hopes. Silly Vipers… wins are for Canucks. Goal scorers for the Canucks were: Dave, Rich (2), Matt, Jack (2), and Joel.

Next week is a big much anticipated match against the Oilers. This will no doubt be a preview of the first playoff round so lets step it up and show ‘em what we got.

  • Hey Jack or Chris...make sure we don't have that freak ref we know and love whenever we play the sharks...it should be a good game this friday as long as that terrible excuse for a ref doesn't ruin it between 2 teams their for the same reason...having fun, playing a tough and rough brand of hockey that everybody enjoys without a ref who has a vendetta against certain players on both squads...

  • I've already talked to another ref. He will probably be doing our playoff games and if that works out, next year's season as well.

Unfortunately the Sharks may have our current ref for their home playoff games, but I will talk to them, and ask them if if they can switch to a new one as well. It's better for everyone if refs come into a game without any prior history or vendettas against certain players.

As for this weekend's game against the Oilers I'm thinking of talking to the ref ahead of time to see if he can be extra lenient so that we can have a good physical game.
