Recap: 3/9/2007 Oilers vs Canucks

The playoffs kicked off for the Nuckers on Friday night with the first game of a best-of-three series against the Oilers. The Canucks were confident knowing they had beaten this team three times during the regular season, but they also knew that the Oil were capable of beating them if they slacked off even a little.
The game started and for a period and a half the play went back and forth with no one able to find the back of the net. Both teams played hard, the game was looking to be a low scoring affair until a burst of offense from the Canucks broke the game open and we jumped to a 3 goal lead. With a hefty lead, the Canucks settled into trap mode and managed to keep the puck out until a scrum in front of our own net resulted in an Oiler goal. In the final minute the Oil pressed hard with the extra attacker, and managed another goal to bring it to a one goal game with 15 seconds left. Fortunately, face-offs are a Canucks specialty, and we won the draw, and threw it into an empty net to secure the victory.
The game proved the Canucks have what it takes to be champions. A steller performance from Chris in net, a great game played by the defense, and some excellent offensive displays all combined to help win the game. Let’s do it again next week boys!

Goal Scorers: Dan (Mike, Matt), Mike (Matt, John), Wade (Jack), Jack (Dan)
