Welcome back Nuck fans!
Welcome back Nuck fans! The 07/08 season is coming up soon…
Here's a few pre-season tidbits:
That's all for now folks. Keep checking out this site for updates…
Here's a few pre-season tidbits:
- The league has decided to scrap the B-Central, and create a C division instead. This means we're in the B-South. Our division is now: Burlington Canucks, Caledonia Cougars, Dunnville Stars, Hamilton Oilers, Lincoln Lightning, Smithville Whalers, and Toronto Titans. In case you're wondering, the Burlington Sharks moved up to the A division, and the C division is Ancaster Avalanche, Burlington Predators, Burlington Vipers, Grimsby Thrashers, and Smithville Stealth.
- A few significant rule changes this year:
- Players from sister churches are now allowed on teams, as long as the majority of the team is Can Ref.
- Max penalty minutes changed from 40 to 36
- Team standings determined by head-to-head record if there is a tie between two teams – instead of most wins.
- Goal-differential is no longer used to determine a tied 3 game playoff series. If the series is tied after three games, a five minute, sudden-death overtime period, and (if necessary) a shoot-out will determine the winner.
- Players from sister churches are now allowed on teams, as long as the majority of the team is Can Ref.
- Jerseys are done. I'm picking them up this week, and I'll hand them out at the next game or practice. New socks are available as well.
- Due to Chris leaving at the end of last season, we needed a new goalie, so we've got Mark Deboer playing for us this year. I'm still looking for a backup goalie, if anyone knows of anyone who's interested, let me know.
- We've also added Jon Jagt as a new full-time member of the team. We didn't lose any players, but I figured we'd be short most games anyways (due to European adventures, weddings, injuries, suspensions) so an extra player won't hurt.
- I'm still looking for a few more subs. I've only got one so far. If anyone knows of anyone who's interested, let me know.
- Sponsorships? Anyone have prospects to help pay for the season? If we don't have any financial help the dues will be very high. Also, we're also still looking for sponsorships to help pay for a set of away jerseys ($1500+).
- In case you haven't heard, the Wave Twin Center is no longer available on Friday nights because a Junior A team has moved there and stolen our time slot. I fought for it but we're not going to get it back. They've moved us to Saturday nights at 8:30 at the Wave Sports Center – that's the other Wave rink where the Sharks and Moose play. We'll have the next game right after them.
- The season schedule has not yet been created, but our first game will most likely be either September 22 or 29. Regardless, we have our home ice booked for us on the 22nd, so we'll be having a practice/shinny that day if there's no game.
- I'd like to get a consistent score-keeper signed up this year. If anyone knows someone willing to do this, let me know. The job would be just to show up for all home games and fill in the game sheets and run the time clock. If someone is willing to commit, we'd be willing to pay them.
- Start saving up for your dues now. Be prepared to pay in the first week of the season. I can't afford to foot the bill this year so I'm not going to let people keep playing without paying. Remember that I'm paying pretty much everything up front, so I'm in debt until you all pay me.
That's all for now folks. Keep checking out this site for updates…

The Canucks are probably the best hockey team I've seen in years!
Poised to take that B-South title baby!

hey jack,
let us know how much we're looking at for the season dues as well.
attach a copy of the team budget so everyone knows what they're paying for too.

With no sponsors we're looking at around $435 each. I'd rather not post the budget on a public website. If anyone wants a copy, email me and I'll send it to them.

The dues pay for:
18 season games
6 playoff games
1 pre-season practice/shinny
the spring tournament
new crest and socks
insurance
league dues
It sounds like a lot but, if you break it down, it's only around $15 per game. And - The more sponsors we get, the cheaper it gets.

email the budget to everyone.

I say we riddle the website with adds that pay us cash if clicked. Spend all hours clicking them and eliminate our dues...It's either that or we should sell hot chocolate at the games to all of our fans...I can get my mom to make a thermos...
For any more good ideas just ask me...

We have ice, so unless there is a game scheduled (highly unlikely) there will be a practice/shinny. Feel free to invite others to join in to help play/pay.
